one tradition our family has, is that each year on the last day of school we have a Welcome to Summer Party. it's fun getting the kiddies excited for summer and to reward their efforts of completing another school year. sometimes we go to our favorite restaurant, sometimes we have a messy party or invite our friends over for milk and cookies, and this year, we are going to be grilling pizza, eating Nestle Peanut Butter Drumstick Cones and having a water fight!
want your kids to think you're the coolest parent on the block? then throw a Welcome to Summer Party. my kids look forward to this every year…and when i mentioned water balloons and super soakers, they about flipped. what could be more fun than a family water fight.
it doesn't have to be a lot of work to get ready for the party. you literally need four things. pizza, a yummy frozen snack, water balloons, and water guns. i ran over to Walmart and picked up a big box of Nestle Peanut Butter Drumstick Cones…these are a favorite of my kids and something special they love to eat. the variety pack especially comes in handy, and it is easy to please everyone with their favorite Drumstick. you can find them on the ice cream aisle.
i also grabbed a couple frozen Jack's Original Pizzas and some water balloons. at home, i pulled out every water gun we owned, and filled it up with water.
then i set up the table. i kept it simple, but i also wanted to make it a bit special, so i put this printable in a frame, and laid out the Nestle Peanut Butter Drumstick Cones and water balloons.
while the kids enjoy the sunshine and get ready for the big water fight, you can actually grill the frozen pizzas. such a great option when you don't want to heat up the house turning on the over. and then everyone get to enjoy the outdoors.
to grill pizza
preheat grill, setting all burners on low (maintain approximately 400˚f ) with lid closed. then place pizza directly onto the grate in the center of the grill. close the lid and grill for 12 to 15 minutes total, rotating the pizza ½ a turn halfway though the grilling. once the cheese is melted and lightly bubbling in the center, crust is golden brown, your pizza will be done.
remove your pizza from the grill and cut with a pizza cutter for everyone to enjoy. the crust will be nice and crispy and easy to eat.
and everyone is going to want in on the Nestle Peanut Butter Drumstick Cones. they are the ultimate summer snack.
now it's time to get wet! once the water fight begins, it's every man for his own. so be sure to lay out some ground rules such as "no water in the house" and don't aim at people's heads," before things begin to get crazy. parents…don't be afraid to get your kids wet LOL.
this is going to be one party your kids will always remember. so eat, play and have a great time. Welcome to Summer!
