Have you wondered where I've been lately? Well, getting the kids ready to go back to school has consumed my time this week. We had to get one more playdate in, one more beach day in, and a visit to the Discovery Science Center. I am worn out!
Besides being completely worn out....the heat has taken it toll on me. Wow, talk about being parched just by walking out to get mail in this heat. I guess I shouldn't be complaining....the weather here is perfect 90% of the time : )
Every year on the first day of school, I like to give the teachers a little gift. I include a note letting them know that i am willing to help them if they need it. The past two years I have made these caramel apples! Aren't they cute?!!!
The fun thing is…that we use pencils as the stick. Unsharpened of course. Then I package them up with cellophane and make a little note that looks like a chalkboard to tie on with a bow. They turned out adorable this year….and were super simple to make.
How to Make Back to School Caramel Apples for Your Teacher
To make Back to School Caramel Apples you will need:
- Apple
- Caramel
- Milk
- White or brown melted chocolate
- Unsharpened pencil
- Cellophane
- Computer Paper
- Brown cardstock
- Ribbon
- Glue
- Scissors
First - Wash your apples. Then melt the caramel on a double boiler with a dash of milk. Instead of using a stick, use an unsharpened pencil. They work great! Punch the pencil into the stem part of your apple.
Next - Dip your apple into the caramel. Move it around until it is covered in caramel.
Now, roll the caramel covered apple into M&M's or your favorite topping.
Place onto a greased piece of waxed paper. When cooled, drizzle white chocolate over it. Once chocolate it cooled, wrap up your Back to School Caramel Apple! You can now give it to your teacher.
How to Make the Chalkboard Note Gift Tag
To make the chalkboard note, I simply printed out some wording using the Microsoft Word. I made a black box, a typed the wording using white text on top of it.
Then I cut the black box with the white wording out, and glued it on top of brown cardstock. Finally, I punched a hole in the corner and tied it on with a ribbon.
Making caramel apples sounding like too much work? Get store bought ones and add your own pencil and gift tag!!!!
