i'm in the spring cleaning mode! being true to my goal this year of being focused, i have been cleaning out my home (slowly but surely) to make it more functional for myself and my family. no more excess, no more waste. and when i was cleaning out around my desk area, i found that i had a full drawer full of old cell phones and devices just taking up space. space that could be used for more functional purposes and benefit our family life. so…it was ecoATM to the rescue.
you don't want to just throw old electronics in the trash, it's bad for the environment. PLUS, why would you throw something in the trash that COULD MAKE YOU MONEY?
ecoATM Kiosks accept devices of any era or condition, and uses a worldwide auction system to offer consumers competitive prices depending upon condition of the phone. that means you can get cash for your old phone...even get a few hundred dollars for newer smartphones! although some very old phones may not be worth anything, you can be rest assured knowing that your phone will be responsibly recycled.
ecoATM is working hard to dramatically increase e-waste recycling. they are making it easier for us to recycle our devices by giving us a convenient way to recycle while putting a little cash back into our pockets. it's a win win situation! with approximately 900 kiosks, located in shopping malls and select retailers nationwide, you can easily turn in your mobile phone, tablet and MP3 player into one of the conveniently located kiosks.
i would love you to watch this fun little video my boys made about the ecoATM. they had so much fun directing it, and even more fun turning in our old cell phones and devices for money. they would love you to leave some comments on their movie!
Ways to make your ecoATM experience easier...
• make sure your device is charged (although it doesn't have to be). that way the ecoATM will be able to scan it and get the best price for you.
• bring your license or from of I.D. which you will need to get payed
• check out this FAQ page for any questions you may have before you visit an ecoATM.
Earth Day is just around the corner…so it is the perfect time to do your part and share in this experience with your kiddies. here are some facts about how ecoATM helps our environment.
Reduce
most consumer electronics contain toxic materials such as lead, mercury, arsenic and a broad variety of other materials that pose a threat to the environment and our health. the first and best thing we can do is to extend the life of existing devices as long as possible so that there is no need to build new devices, and then to responsibly reclaim materials from devices that are truly end-of-life. if ecoATM cannot find a second life for a certain device, it is recycled. this reduces the mining new materials and precious metals from the Earth and the amount of these toxic materials in our landfill, which reduces the risk of toxins entering our water and soil supplies.
Reuse
most consumer electronics and mobile phones are retired when they still have about three quarters of their useful life remaining. they could find new homes with other who need them. however, the majority rarely find a second life because the reverse supply chains are not yet efficient enough to serve the market well. ecoATM is helping to get these devices in to the hand of those who can still use them.
Recycle
when a cell phone no longer has any life left in it, it can be “mined” to extract precious metals, spare parts and other materials that can be re-used. this material re-use is a key component to solving the e-waste problem. ecoATM only partners with a limited number of e-waste recyclers who meet our qualifications and meet either R2 or eStewards.
