last week we had a fun family evening at The Queen Mary's CHILL. i had no idea what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised at how magical it was. it was so cool (and CHILLY too!)
the Ice Kingdom is one of the main attractions you must visit at the CHILL. as you enter, you are given a parka. yes…you NEED this. you are about to enter into a 5˚area filled with amazing ice sculptures, and boy is it COLD.
i actually have never been so cold in my life. i recommend that you bring gloves and warm hats….especially for the kids. and long pants and a jacket are musts. my littlest was so cold we had to take him out. so next time, i am definitely going to dress him more warmly.
the ice sculpture area was amazing. this year's them for the Ice Kingdom is "The Story of the Nutcracker," so you get to see ice sculptures of scenes and character's from this holiday tale.
i loved the bright beautiful colors and fun characters. check us out in front of this giant nutcracker!
and of course the scenes of Clara and the toys….
and the Mouse King!
a favorite in the Ice Kingdom would have to be the Queen Mary ice sculpture. it is so big that visitors are allow to climb stair to the top and slide down ice slides to the bottom. even i tried it….and had a BLAST!
the ice sculptures in The Ice Kingdom are absolutely amazing. i have never seen anything like it before.
besides visiting The Ice Kingdom, there is an ice tubing area with 6 lanes for anyone taller than 46"
plus, there is ice skating with a view of the Queen Mary. (ice skate rental fees apply)
areas with holiday decor….
Santa and Mrs. Claus…. a giant Snowman Bounce House…. and games and rides like this giant rocking horse and reindeer bull riding. (additional fees apply) live music plays throughout the night and we were surprised with snow. it may have been artificial….but it was magical. the best way ever to end the evening. The Queen Mary's Chill runs from November 22nd through January 5th, 2013
admission prices include The Ice Kingdom, ice skating, snowman bounce house, and same-day admission aboard the Queen Mary ship. great food (similar to the county fair food) is available for purchase. click here for more information.
