Haunt of Halloween has come to Kaleidoscope Mall in Mission Viejo! It's Orange County's newest haunted house that has two options - one for those who want to get scared, and one for kids!
It makes a fun outing with the kids or a date night with friends. Have some questions about what to expect? Look no further.
On this post I will be sharing photos from our visit to the kids version of Haunt of Halloween. Photos aren't allowed in the scary version of Haunt of Halloween, but let me tell you a little about it.
Haunt of Halloween - The Scary Version
Haunt of Halloween is the scary version of their maze. Known as OUTPOST 13 HAUNTED MAZE, it's an intense and terrifying journey where adrenaline and fear for survival becomes a reality. This maze is designed to shock your senses, test your limits, and bring out your deepest fears!
This haunted maze is fun to experience with friends to share the screams with and to watch your back as you all make your way through this terrifying maze. My older kids and husband went and they said it was really good and SCARY!!!! They loved it.
Tickets start at $20
How long is the experience?
Depending on the person, it generally takes around 10-12 minutes to go through the maze (maybe a little longer). Plus there are exhibits and photo ops to check out once you've gone through the maze.

Kids Trick or Treat at Haunt of Halloween
The kids version of Haunt of Halloween is just right for kids who want a little bit of scary, but not have monsters and ghouls jump out at them. It takes place in the same maze area as the scary version, but with a little more light and no monsters.
Instead, the kids get to explore the maze and go trick or treating.
Around every corner was someone passing out trick-or-treat candy.
I would say there were about 10 stops to get candy, and the kids bags where filled with about 20 pieces of candy by the end of the maze.
They enjoyed the spooky decorations, and didn't get scared at all. They liked the rooms in the maze the best, especially the one with the lasers and bubbles.
Tickets are $15 for both kids and adults. Which includes entering the maze and going trick or treating asa seen in these photos. Plus you can enjoy the additional activities once outside the maze.
We forgot to wear our costumes! That would have been fun to get some more use out of them.
The Not-So-Scary Haunted Maze Attraction is, RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 12 YEARS OLD. Must be accompanied by an Adult.
Additional Photo Ops at Haunt of Halloween
In addition to the haunted maze, there are some Halloween photo ops to take photos at. The one at the beginning of this post with the scary props was our favorite. Plus there are these!
What else can you do at Haunt of Halloween
There are a few more Halloween activities to enjoy at Haunt of Halloween.
You can look at props from scary movies...
Then Face Your Fears...at this creepy sensory attraction. It's available for both the scary and kids versions. This is where your stick your hand into a creepy container and feel something scary inside. Wow! I couldn't do it...could you?
During the day on Saturday and Sunday, there are Spooky Shows and Halloween Acts including Remi. A Michael Jackson impersonator that teaches the audience how to dance the THRILLER!! He was really good!
The Up Close Horror Pop Up, Souvenir Photo Op, Non-Knife Pumpkin Carving and Decorating, and Face painting are additional fees...so beware of that if your kids want to do them.
The George The Giant - Strange Museum of Oddities & Wonders something creepy and strange. A museum filled with haunted objects (for real), two headed animals, chupacabras and more. $3 per person entry fee.
Finally,
Where is Haunt of Halloween
Haunt of Halloween take place on the Plaza Level of Kaleidoscope Mall in Mission Viejo. It is set up in one of the units of Kaleidoscope that has not yet been built for store use. It's basically a warehouse look...just and FYI so you know what to expect.
Nonetheless, the haunted house is really well done and there is lots of fun to be had.
More Halloween Fun at Kaleidoscope Mall
Don't forget, that before or after you visit Haunt of Halloween, there are some fun Halloween photo opportunities and also, Trick-or-Treating available at Kaleidoscope. Dress up in your fall favorites and get some pictures with these cute set ups.
Trick or treating is available at select stores within the Kaleidoscope mall. My kids really enjoyed getting all the candy.
You can find a list of participating stores on the Haunt of Halloween website. Also, when we went into Laserland to go trick-or-treating, they also gave us each a free game of laser tag! That was a fun surprise...and also really fun. So much so that we are planning on going again to play laser tag with the family.
All in all, we had a really great time enjoying Haunt of Halloween and the Halloween fun at Kaleidoscope. We also got a quick dinner and enjoyed the afternoon into the evening. It really made the perfect family outing for us!
